A Solid All-Round Home Security Setup That Just Gets On With the Job

I went for the eufy C35 2-cam kit with the HBmini and the extra C31 cameras to sort out full coverage around the house, and what I’ve ended up with is a setup that feels properly flexible without getting overcomplicated.

The first thing that stood out was how easy it was to get going. The C35 cameras are genuinely simple to mount and position, and you don’t feel like you need to be an installer to get them working. Once they’re linked to the HomeBase Mini, everything just falls into place in the app without much faff.

Day-to-day, the C35 cameras are solid. The picture is clear enough for what I need, especially in daylight, and the colour night vision is a big plus because you’re not left guessing what you’re looking at when it’s dark. I also like that it picks up people, vehicles, and pets properly without constantly pinging my phone for nothing. The alerts feel usable rather than annoying.

The HBmini is a quiet win in the background. It keeps everything local, so I’m not tied into subscriptions, and it just quietly does its job. Once it’s set up, you don’t really think about it again, which is exactly what you want from a hub.

The C31 cameras are a bit different but useful in their own way. They feel more “fixed position” and a bit more always-on compared to the battery C35s. I’ve found them handy for covering specific areas where I don’t want to worry about charging or moving anything. They’re not as flexible, but they’re dependable.

What I like most about the whole setup is that it feels like a proper system rather than a bunch of random cameras. Everything talks to each other through the hub, and I can check everything in one place without jumping around.

It’s not perfect though. The footage is good but not razor-sharp like higher-end systems, and you do notice it’s more “practical security” than cinematic quality. Also, mixing C35 and C31 cameras means you’ve got slightly different behaviour depending on which one you’re looking at, so it’s not completely uniform.

Still, for a home setup, especially if you want to avoid monthly fees and keep things local, it hits a nice balance. It’s one of those systems where you set it up, tweak it a bit, then mostly forget about it because it just does what it’s meant to.

Overall, I’d say it’s a sensible, well-rounded security setup that gives you good coverage without dragging you into subscriptions or complicated installs.
