eufyCam E40 2-Cam Kit + HomeBase S380

Well packaged and arrived when expected
Tried to set the 380 home base up initially with a spare ssd 500 gb hard drive but failed to so removed it and all set up went well I suspect my ssd drive was faulty . Got my Eufy doorbell cam on as well so now have all round cover very pleased.

First of all, yes, there are cheaper home security/camera set ups available and this is a considered purchase. However, the quality of the equipment is very high. You get two cameras which can operate on a rechargeable battery or topped up via the solar panels on the top of each cam. You plug the Homebase into your home wifi and it all connects up via the app which you can download.
Picture quality is excellent. It as colour night vision too and two-way audio so you can hear or speak to people you see on the camera.
The advantage of this set up is that you can also add further cameras to it later on if you wanted, as they all link to the Homebase unit.

Setting up the base was as simple as connecting to the power, plugging in to my LAN, downloading the app and creating an account. Add HomeBase and proceed with firmware updating, which takes approximately five minutes. Followed by adding your cameras and any other Eufy-compatible devices you already own, such as Smart Vacs, Smart Health, baby monitors and more!
The S380 Base acts as the main hub and requires a connection to your LAN. It is easily managed with the mobile app. Also, you can add your own storage drive to the HomeBase in addition to the 16GB of onboard storage.
The E40 cameras support up to 2K, but you can buy additional Eufy 4K quality cameras supported by the S380 HomeBase. There are many accessories available, including video doorbells, and the AI-enhanced features of this base are cutting-edge in enhancing and giving you the most responsive security out of the box.
My tests determined that these cameras require a full charge to begin with and then rely on the built-in solar panels for automatic recharging. They do not need to be in the brightest of conditions to recharge, although you can buy an additional solar panel to plug into the camera if it is not getting enough light. Plus, you can use permanent USB power if you really need it; there is an option to turn this and many more features on in the settings.
The included fittings and bracket are a well-made design to aid you in fitting them to your building, inside or out. The wireless connection has a good range; I could position these outdoors in my garden and receive crystal clear streaming day or night. You can drag and drop shapes in the App to block zones that you do not want to appear in your video recordings, this is a privacy filter. I particularly like the built-in flood lamps for the enhanced lighting at night to record HD or 2K colour videos or snapshots. Plus, the timeline can be managed from your phone; either download your recordings or edit on the go.
The AI features include facial recognition, plus adding users to the list of trusted people, and you can share access with trusted members. As well as adding features like car recognition and pet detection, theft detection and more. Notifications work effortlessly; enable what you want to receive, and you will get them by email or text.
Overall, I find this one of the most user-friendly dual cam kits with an AI-enhanced HomeBase hub for local storage, much like a NAS storage server with admin user management controls. I do not think you will be disappointed with the price point, with all its hardware and smart features to secure your home base.

When it arrives the presentation for unboxing shows the care that's taken to ensure that all arrives in a perfect condition.
This 2 camera setup is solar powered via inbuilt solar panels in the tops of the camera's. So they are pretty much fit and forget with no wiring needed as they are 2.4G only wifi to the Homebase which you connect to your router and using the power supply enclosed to power it. Its all pretty simple really.
Start by downloading the eufy App which is quite a nice and well behaved App, follow the in App instructions to set up the homebase.
Add the camera's and sync them to the homebase, once done fully charge each camera using your own phone charger.
Once charged, which can be some time, up to 8hrs to fully charge each camera, test for possible camera locations which is dependent on your wifi quality.
When you are happy with the camera location use the supplied mounts to fit the camera's and that's all there is to it.
The Homebase has a built in 16GB hard drive which is expandable if need be. The camera's are up to 2K HD selectable, they have colour night vision and 2 way audio. The App gives you a whole host of available options for setting up the camera's.
I have mine set to video any alerts which I can view at my time of choosing and download to my phone memory if I need to.
There is no need to pay any monthly fee's, its all stored locally encrypted in the homebase memory.
There are a whole host of adjustable features for each camera and again for the homebase that will keep enthusiasts of personal selections very happy and busy or just mainly go with the selected defaults if you don't want to get too involved.
I am very happy with mine, they really are fit and forget.

So, setup was a little bit of a faff, though I feel this may have been more an error on my part rather than the product, but once done all works perfectly.
I already had Ring cameras installed but wanted to see how these compare, especially given that they come with a home base and integrate with HomeKit, a system I am moving to over my existing Alexa setup.
I installed them alongside my existing Ring cameras for a true comparison as the Ring are good, just not ideal for my intended purpose, and these are equally as clear with the added benefit of no charging due to their Solar function>
So the ing are now back in their box and these have taken up the role, outdoors at least.
The only reason they lose a star , for now at least, is the issues I had with setup, I am ordering some more Efy kit to add to these so if no significant issues are encountered they will get 5
