eufy HomeBase Professional S1

Delivered within three days of ordering I was keen to get this unit installed, set up instructions need to be a little clearer as the unit kept telling me that it was connected to Ethernet but was actually using the mobile data which was consumed very quickly.
I was at the point of returning the unit and reverting back to my HB3 when I decided to do a google search which turned out to be more of a help than those provided, although the S1 showed Ethernet was connected my router had not recognised it hence the mobile data kicking in.
The migration of cameras from my HB3s was seemless although a couple had dropped connections on and off for a few days but seemed to have settled down now.
I’m using a 2TB ssdd connected via a cable as my experience with a hard drive generated two much heat which I discovered with an earlier HB3 which failed within months which Eyfy replaced very quickly.
The S1 has been up and running for a few weeks now and iv found no lag when connecting to cameras although the geofencing is still not performing 100% its more of a miss than hit causing to switch the S1 manually.
Would I have bought the S1 if the none offer price of nearly £600 then the answer would be NO, the special offer price is what in my opinion what this product is truly worth

Also found (connectivity lab, settings)> (intelligent WiFi) on my phone S25U, enabling lab settings by pressing it a certain amount of times.

great piece of kit ,easy to install and add extras

Once my brain got in gear its been amazing piece of kit ,great item at a great price,the future is bright with eufy,thank you kindly for your state-of-the-art products..

We live in a remote area with no police patrols (which is pretty standard in any area of the UK these days) and unreliable, overhead wired electricity - which has cut out 5 times over the last 2 years! The 24 hr backup battery in the Homebase Pro S1 is must have. We currently fun 6 cameras around our property, which does not benefit from council street lighting. Our security system is a necessity for monitoring what is happening around us in the dead of the night. I can't say Eufy doesn't have issues every now and then - cameras randomly going offline for half an hour, buffing crashes every so often - but for the price and the non subscription aspect, it's the best we've found!

All my videos , open slower like when I had homebase 3 , S1 need improvement regarding access to motion clips and all devices connected to it , Don get me wrong it's great peace of equipment and with upcoming AI module definitely will be worth to buy 👍

So let me start off by saying the my old Eufy Homebase 3 was very frustrating to use, constant drop outs.

I was very cautious about getting this Homebase Pro S1 especially at the price, but I have to say it has impressed me so far, the connection issues have nearly gone, with the exception of one of my internal cameras which is due to poor WiFi in that room and the equipment being old.

Previously I would have to restart the app constantly to get the cameras to connect, now they connect within seconds.

Transferring from my Homebase 3 to the Pro S1 was seamless(it did take two tries) but it is very straight forward.
I have put a 4TB WD RED Hardrive within it, which was easy to install.

So to my surprise it also comes with a preload sim card within it, which has 400MB of data which can be used when you WiFi goes down, this is an ongoing cost if you need it, but it is very much a pay as you go top up model that can be cancelled any time.

So this has been a pleasant surprise, would I say paying £600 is worth it, it depends on your needs, but you do have to factor in that this is packed with features, it has POE as well, and the ability that it will have the the option to add a LLM to it.

Happy enough with purchase at the discounted rate, but would be less so at full price.
With the addition of an hhd, it’s rather noisy, frustratingly the built in mmc is ignored when the hhd is added, it would be handy if daily events are recorded to the built in mmc and transferred to the hhd on a scheduled basis, or when the mmc is reaching capacity (for speed of access).

The usb port for archival purposes is located at the back, in my set up, this means moving the unit out of an awkward shelf space (my own fault I know),whereas if the port was at the front, it’d be a lot simpler.

Doesn’t appear that the EdgeAICore is available at time of review, would be curious about how this improves functionality, as it stands, facial recognition is spotty, often not recognising a known face, and quite poor at highlighting unknown faces, maybe it’ll improve over time, or maybe it’s the angle and distance from motion events around my property.

I had a few few teething issues setting it up, but these have been ironed out. I had the homebase three and this is a big improvement when accessing life videos the response time is brilliant.. is downside that it doesn’t currently have Wi-Fi, but I have a strong wide connection. I’ve not experienced any disconnections and it is serving several cameras a doorbell and the alarm sensors.

I’m sure with a few more firmware updates this will be a great device.
